POVERTY . . .
The first thing that comes to mind is not having – not having enough money for the basics. Not having food, not having clothes, not
having shelter, not having an education, not having health services and the list goes on and on. Poverty is chronic. Poverty is a cycle.
Poverty also means not having a choice, not having an opportunity, and not having hope.
According to the World Bank, more than 1 billion people around the world, about 1 in 6 people, today live in extreme poverty defined as
living on less than $1 per day. Approximately 3 billion, about 45 percent of the world, live on less than $2 per day.
Jesus identified with the poor, is concerned about them, and blessed those who those who served them.
To help the poor have – have the basics, have a choice, have opportunities, have hope, and have a self-sustaining future is why Compassion For the Nations is here.
